‘When I was sent to report from conflict zones, most memorably during the Lebanese civil war, it was Beethoven who saw me through the most harrowing experiences.’ John Suchet
John Suchet, former ITN war correspondent and news anchor, shares his deeply moving latest work – part biography, part memoir, part travelogue. Dedicated to the life of the extraordinary composer, John traces Beethoven’s life from his early days in Bonn to his dying days in Vienna, using his own experiences as a Beethoven aficionado to demonstrate the lifechanging power of great music.
Following this, young pianist Arthur Kokerai, a rising star of Russian and Zimbabwean heritage, who trained in Moscow and is currently working with Dame Joanna McGregor at the Royal Academy of Music, will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas No.11 in B flat major op.22 and No.23 in F minor, ‘Appassionata’, op.57. Two contrasting masterpieces.
